"The process could not have been better. This is the 3rd home construction I’ve been involved in, but the first I’ve managed myself as single woman. The first two houses were a series of limitations, expensive customizations, delays, and lack of communication. My experience with Northstar and Kopper Creek was completely different.
The modular Northstar home was completely customized and all decisions were made in the office, with coffee and good conversation. After visiting the Northstar factory in Minnesota, we felt we were getting a quality, well-insulated home. We were not disappointed.
Everyone we dealt with, from the sales representative, the owner, to the team of skilled workers, was professional, pleasant, and accommodating at all times. The owner’s responses to my questions were immediate and the craftsmen were a well-oiled team that I enjoyed knowing. I received excellent recommendations for local contractors, who were also equally responsive.
From the time the 90%-finished house was “set” on its foundation to occupancy was 2 months, which was apparently record time, because I received so much support from Kopper Creek in navigating the permit process. Now we have our certificate of occupancy and could not be more pleased with the home.
By the end of the process, we felt more like fast friends than contractor and customer. How many home owners can say that? Would I go through the process with Kopper Creek again and recommend them to others? Yes, without a moment’s hesitation."

"We worked with Northstar on a project consisting of 2 triplexes for Sr. housing in Dalton, MN that we own/rent as an agency. It was our first foray into working with a modular builder/modular building product and we couldn’t be happier with the process and the results. Prior to this job I worked in commercial construction for 15 years, so I have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly, and everything in between when it comes to contractors and builders. Northstar was great to work with throughout the entire process. Even prior to being awarded the job Lawrence and his team were more than accommodating to answer questions and give advice and guidance. Our project wasn’t huge in scope, but it always felt like we were a priority for them.
As far as the actual product goes, we are coming up on 2 years since completion and really have no issues or complaints. If you haven’t yet, I would highly encourage you to setup a time to go take a tour of their facilities. With a career of doing “traditional” site-built projects I was a little apprehensive at first of using a modular product. Seeing their process and quality control firsthand though I was sold. We have some upcoming projects of a similar scope and will ideally work with Northstar again on them. It really was one of the easiest, least stressful builds I have been a part of, and I cannot recommend working with them enough."

"It’s hard to express our satisfaction without writing a book! From our factory tour to the day our home arrived in town we have been nothing but satisfied. Our home is so well built and solid that you would never guess it wasn’t a stick built home. When designing our home, William and Larry were great – they thought of some details and enhancements that made our project look better and go smoother. For example, finding out what size bed we had so they could space our bedroom windows appropriately, and finding upgrades that we had our hearts set on that they normally didn’t carry, like a deep kitchen sink and log railing around our basement stairs. Of course every project has a couple of hiccups, however Joel rectified these promptly and with great communication. We researched having our house built on our land directly but quickly found that trying to organize and get all the trades to quote and commit was very frustrating. We turned to exploring modular homes and looked at quite a few manufacturers and concluded that Northstar Systembuilt appeared to have the best product and value….and we were not disappointed! When everything shows up on delivery day complete and ready to go with great craftsmanship, how can you go wrong? We strongly recommend Northstar Systembuilt – you will not be disappointed!"
